We've compiled the key questions that successful clients wanted answered before starting their brands. From regulations to marketing, let Misatsu be your startup roadmap.

We can conduct "benchmark analysis" — examining the reference product's texture, viscosity, skin feel, and core concept to develop a formula that's "equivalent" or even "optimized." However, out of respect for intellectual property and business ethics, we never copy ingredient lists verbatim. Instead, we create a unique, high-quality formula exclusively for your brand.
Misatsu has an extensive raw material supply chain. As long as the ingredient complies with Taiwan TFDA regulations (not a prohibited substance) and has complete COA (Certificate of Analysis) and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) documentation, we can help test its stability and compatibility, and incorporate it into your formula.
It depends on the collaboration model. If you purchase our ready-made ODM formula, the IP belongs to Misatsu and you hold sales rights. If you pay the full R&D fee and provide exclusive ingredients for custom OEM development, both parties can sign an agreement assigning formula ownership to the brand or as jointly owned.
To ensure efficient use of R&D resources, we charge a basic "sampling fee" (which can be credited toward bulk order payments). The standard process includes 2–3 rounds of formula fine-tuning. If additional rounds or major changes are needed (e.g., switching from cream to toner), costs will be reassessed.
Absolutely. We're familiar with COSMOS, ECOCERT, and other organic certification standards, as well as cruelty-free requirements. We can select certified-compliant ingredients and preservative systems to help you create products that align with the clean beauty trend.
To support startup brands, our standard MOQ can be as low as 3,000 units, and for certain mature formulations, we can discuss starting from 1,000 units. For ultra-small experimental marketing runs (100–500 units), please contact us about our "micro-startup plan" (typically limited to stock bottles and existing formulas).
We offer full-service solutions, handling both raw materials and packaging procurement. Misatsu has long-term supply chain contracts, typically securing better pricing. Of course, if you have specific preferred suppliers for raw materials or packaging, we also accept "client-supplied materials," which must pass our IQC inspection upon arrival, with a small inspection management fee.
The typical process takes about 3–4 months (excluding R&D). Breakdown: Packaging production & confirmation (45–60 days) → Raw material procurement (14–21 days) → Bulk production, filling & packaging (14–21 days) → QC inspection & release (7–10 days). If using stock packaging, the timeline can be shortened to 1.5–2 months.
Quality is our lifeline. If a quality issue arises, we activate our "complaint handling process": 1. Trace and test retained samples, 2. Review production batch records, 3. If the issue is confirmed as a manufacturing defect, we take full responsibility for returns, replacements, or compensation. All contracts include detailed quality guarantee terms.
Misatsu has automated filling lines with daily capacity of tens of thousands of units. For peak seasons like Singles' Day or Mother's Day, we recommend providing a "forecast" 3–4 months in advance so we can reserve production line capacity and raw materials, ensuring on-time delivery without stockouts.
Yes! We work with experienced commercial design teams who can handle everything from logo identity, bottle selection, to outer box packaging design. We'll provide 2–3 initial design concepts for your selection. Great design is your product's silent salesperson — we'll ensure the visual style precisely conveys your brand's quality.
This is critically important! Cosmetics labeling has strict regulations (full ingredient listing, warnings, responsible manufacturer info, font sizes, etc.). Our regulatory team reviews drafts during the design phase to prevent product recalls or penalties due to labeling errors.
Yes. Post-processing techniques can significantly enhance product quality perception. We're experienced with gold/silver foil stamping, spot UV, embossing, and soft-touch coatings. Our designers will recommend the best finishing options based on your budget and packaging materials (paperboard, glass bottles, tubes).
Beyond aesthetics, "compatibility" and "functionality" are paramount. For example: essential oil formulas aren't suitable for certain plastic materials; high-potency vitamin C requires opaque bottles; serum viscosity determines pump head specifications. We'll recommend the safest packaging materials based on your formula characteristics.
No problem. If you have your own designer, we'll provide standard die-cut templates for layout. Once the design is complete, please send us the original AI files — we'll perform final regulatory review and pre-press inspection.
The complete new product development (NPD) cycle takes approximately 4–6 months, including: Formula R&D & sampling (2–4 weeks) → Stability testing (1.5–3 months) → Packaging production (30–45 days) → Production, filling & inspection (2–3 weeks). To meet your launch timeline, we recommend starting discussions early. Never compress the stability testing period to avoid quality issues.
Mandatory tests include: 1. Microbial testing (total plate count, yeast & mold, pathogens), 2. pH and viscosity measurement, 3. Stability testing (high temperature, low temperature, cycling). Optional tests include: heavy metal testing, preservative efficacy testing (Challenge Test), skin patch testing, and efficacy testing (moisturizing, whitening levels).
Our expertise is in manufacturing and regulations, but to empower our clients, we've developed an "AI Marketing Control Center" that can help you automatically generate SEO articles and social media posts. Additionally, we partner with several quality marketing agencies and KOL matching platforms, and can make referrals as needed.
After production is complete, we can arrange delivery to your designated warehouse. If you don't have warehouse space initially, we can introduce partner third-party logistics (3PL) companies to help you handle e-commerce order picking, packing, and shipping.
